Economisers
Economiser is a device that increases the temperature of feed water using waste heat of flue gases leaving the boiler through chimney. The advantages of using economisers in boiler system is as per the following:
- Higher feed water temperature tend to reduce boiler thermal stresses, so results in increased life of boilers.
- It utilizes waste heat from flue gases, so fuel consumption of boiler reduces.
- Increases the evaporate capacity of boiler.
Air preheater:
Air preheater is a device, which increases the temperature of air before it supply to the furnace using heat from the flue gases passing through chimney.
- Preheated air increases combustion rate and then increases steam generation rate of boiler.
- Due to higher temperature of air, furnace temperature increases, so low grade coal or other fuel can be burnt efficiently.
- In air preheater air is heated by heat of exhaust gases, it reduces fuel consumptions. Therefore thermal efficiency of boiler increases.
